Thursday Open Thread: Pick Your 2010 Award

It’s the final countdown. In less than 48 hours, it will be 2011. Crazy, right? We’ll be back in a year with two 1’s in the number. It’s like 1991 all over again. I digress.

It’s time to celebrate the past year! Yes, it’s time to think about what you’ve seen last spring, last summer, and this fall, and tell me:

Who–and for what–do you give a 2010 award?

Think of these like high school superlatives, but for TV. Name your category. Name your winner. Heck, name your runner up and any reasoning! And you know what? We’ll add your choices into our large assortment of superlatives that we’re planning on posting on New Year’s Eve!

That’s right. Think fast and comment fast because come tomorrow, you’ll be part of a Raked post!

What kind of categories? Well, really, anything you want. Do you want to be ballsy and say best show? Go for it! If you want to be less ballsy and say best hair, go for it! Best character death. Worst character death. Character you want to have an untimely death. Best quote. Worst quote. Best item used to cover an actress’ pregnancy (was there a hidden pregnancy this year?).  The Mad Men character that has the highest likelihood of getting lung cancer in 2011. Worst outfit. What else?

Well, there’s ton to choose from, and I invite you to go for it. Get as creative as you want. Heck, you can even nominate Raked for best TV blog. I mean, why wouldn’t you?

Let me have them in the comments. But hurry! Tomorrow is only a day away.

  1. How about Most Amount of Inappropriate Relationship Information Shared with One’s Children, given to How I Met Your Mother. At this point, it’s gotten a little absurd! If my dad sat me down to explain the cavalcade of women he went out with before my mom, instant spontaneous combustion would be the only way to scour my brain clean.

  2. Good Post, this one had me really thinking. As i was thinking, i realize that i didnt watch a ton of great TV this year. Anyway:

Best Animation: Community’s stop motion Christmas special

Best Animated series: Symbionic Titan, Genndy Tartakovsky’s return to making a full series on the CN

Best Guest star: Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee

Best leave of absence: Olivia Wilde from House (i call this the best because she is left to do some awesome scifi movies [Tron Legacy, Cowboys and Aliens, Now aka im.mortal] and also it allowed Amber Tamblin to take her spot for a bit.

Best heartfelt moment in an action scene: Fiona an Michael in the season finale of Burn Notice. Michael runs off to blow himself up as a distraction to allow Jesse and Fi to get away. Fi doubles back to join Michael. “If we are going to do this, we are doing this together.”

Best after credits last sequence: 30 Rock. Jack is having a baby. During the episode he makes videos to teach his son life lessons after he is gone. At the end of the episode, he learns he is having a daughter. The after credits scene is Jack making another video for his daughter. He says to listen to her mother and shell have nothing to worry about. For everything else, here is Elizabeth Lemon
“If you are running low on laundry, bathing suits make acceptable underwear.”
    “Put chips on sandwiches!!”
