Willow is pregnant! And by Willow, I mean our very own Buffy veteran Alyson Hannigan is pregnant with Buffy and Angel alum Alexis Denisof!
Now, I don’t know about you, but this is adorable. I just love this couple, and I think it’s great. Alyson’s rep told People exclusively, so we have it on good authority that it’s true. The baby is due this spring.
But what will this do with How I Met Your Mother? I’ve heard that Lily and Marshall will be making some big grownup decisions soon, and a baby was hinted at. But as we’ve learned from other shows–like Frasier and Will & Grace–a pregnant actress does not always make for a pregnant character. Will Lily and Marshall be expecting this year? Or will Lily just be carrying a lot of pillows and boxes? We will see!
Awwww! How lovely for Alyson and Alexis! Long may their family flourish and thumb their noses at the Hollywood divorce rate, haha.
As for the show, given that Marshall and Lily are married, and that we know they want children, I think a baby on the show is entirely possible. And the timing is good, given that they’re finally moving into their own place now.
On the other hand, that’s a huge change to the show dynamic — will they want to go there?
I just love Alyson and Alexis. They’ll have such a cute kid.
As for Marshall and Lily–I agree. Do we want that change to the show dynamic? I can see many comedic episodes ensuing over pregnant Lily (I mean, remember Bridal Lily?) and now mom Lily, and maybe even some Marshall freakouts. But I don’t know… I know there has been lots of rumors flying about Marshall, Lily, and baby before the announcement, but they’re just rumors. They could easily just cover it up and say Lily’s getting fat. You think I’m crass, but it happened on Frasier.
But hey, if she is, can we say designer maternity clothes?
